Compost is usually mistaken with soil sometimes and people end up using a large amount of it for their plants. But compost is a natural fertilizer which means a large amount of it can kill off the plants. Compost is supposed to be used in a certain ratio depending on what it is being used for. So, we decided to ask our in-house composting expert to recommend the ratio for compost in different uses. Here’s what we have compiled:
FOR USE IN A LAWN
- 10 square foot requires 5 kg of compost.
FOR PLANTING SEEDS
- Compost to Soil ratio – 1:3
FOR PLANTING SEEDLINGS
- Compost to Soil ratio – 1:2
TO NOURISH OLD PLANTS
- For already potted plants (flowers, herbs, vegetables), just sprinkle a handful of compost on the top soil.
A small amount of compost can do wonders for your plants!
